have you done a DIY radiator flush recently? Or have low coolant level?
My understanding is, the engine needs to heat the engine water to a ceratain temperature before the thermostat opens and allows heated water into the heater bank.
Option 1: the thermostat is out of order and not opening properly
Option 2: you may not have enough coolant in the engine block
Option 3: is the temperature set to 22 degrees and the auto button is switched On

Hi I've just checked the water level which was very very low and topped it up, could this have been the issue? Also the other issue now is why was the water so low ??

Byork, very low water level will stop the heater from working on any car but it would help people to help you if you correctly filled out your cars details, otherwise there's too much guess work involved. Mods:

Will try it on the way home, a little concerned about the drop in water.

Morning, heater now working fine ,thanks. A bit worried now with the loss of water, it shouldn't have been empty in the first place but had to top it up again this morning before the drive to work , air bubble? Will check the level again later ,( no wet foot wells) thanks again

I would consider opening tho coolant bleed valves and making sure you have no air in the block.
I have seen a guide on the forum that states the correct way to bleed air out of the coolant system. I cant readily find it at the moment

I wouldnt worry to much about the bleeding but would be onto that coolant leak like a dose of salts, low coolant = potential blown motor.
If you ask there may be someone on here who can switch on your low coolant sensor.
