Hi
Not sure if this is already known but after stripping my actuator due to the usual tailgate issues and realising teh motor was complete toast i looked for an alternativer motor/actuator to replace, but being me i wasnt prepared to pay the stealer prices.

How often do these go and ìs it yet another thing to add to my list?
What about the doors do they go as well? I have asked in my other post but didn't get a response.
From the other posts about doors and tailgate it is hard to tell what is a common problem and what is not.( With the doors that is).

Mine is 2006 so getting on a bit and at £16 a pop, it might be worth having as a spare.

Having only owned my disco since last november i cant really comment on how long they last, what i will say though is that when i stripped the rear panel off i discovered that someone had been in tehre in the past, although i dont think the actuator was changed but there was a (relatively) shiny new cable in there,so guessing that had snapped at some point.
I stripped my actuator thinking i may be able to save it...the motor was F***ed...So my advice save yourself the time and hassle and order one for £16!
My car is on 175k and a 2005 if that helps?
Also i have the 'newer' plastic type micro-switch,which i guess was done at same time as cable.

Done this on mine, simple case of cutting wires and joining to the new actuator and putting screws back in Iggy/Ieuan

I wonder how many members have problems with them. As mine will be a working car, I really don't want to have problems with doors and tailgate when on site.
Will add it to the list.

As an addition to this...
Use your OLD spring....having fitted the 'cheap' spring i found that the arm was retracting a little too far with the spring that is included causing it to jam...comparing it to the 'genuine' one it appears a lot less substantial and after swapping it i have had no further problems.
Good luck

I'm sure there was a thread/sticky for parts from other sources for cheaper 'genuine' parts from other sources.
May be worth sticking this there as well.
A really daft question (which in good at) or I haven't seen it....yet
Why can't a list be complied that details the parts from Ford, Citroen / Peugeot, Freelander that are directly compatible.
A starting point place.
Could potentially save money & a place to refer to when LR parts dry up.BREXIT - done properly.

Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.
