Front lower arms, which ones?
My front lower arm rear bushes are ready for changing! going to fit arms not just change bushes but which ones do I go for, I see AF do a good few but which ones? any thoughts from you that have changed them would be good, changed them when I had a Disco 3 and put genuine Land Rover on but rear bushes always seem a bit weak.Serbian Silver 2011 Discovery 4 HSE SDV6 8 speed auto

Ok it's time to order some front lower arms, so come on a lot of you must have changed them so which ones?? do I go for.Serbian Silver 2011 Discovery 4 HSE SDV6 8 speed auto
I've just recently changed mine.
I went for the Mehle ones from AF. The major difference with these over the original type parts (correct me if i'm wrong guys !) is that instead of the big rear bush being a 'hydrolastic' type bush it's a solid rubber bush but with similar compliance.
i thought that putting up with a little bit of potential harshness was worth a longer useable life. Time will tell, only done a few hundred on it so far but it's been a revelation how much tighter the car feels over the original worn set and most of all no 'clang, clunk' aas you go along on a rough road Morris Dancers: Drinkers with A Dance Problem

Arms or bush's???
Took money pit into local independant garage with the request to replace front lower arms. Vehicle was returned with new bush's rather than the replacement arms requested.
Was this a good or bad thing?

Depends on how much they charged to change the bushes as opposed to just slapping on new arms?

Bushes came out around £200 cheaper than the quote for arms and I was told it was a better solution.

Hi Just jumping on the thread if I may...
My D4 2010 knocks from the front when breaking and when I go over speed bumps - only got 65k on clock. Told by local Indy that this is the lower wishbone bushes are worn and is very common (appears so on searching the forum).
They have suggested a non LR one Poly(somethingorother) so will last dramatically longer.
They will also refurb the wishbones apparently too..
All sounds good price is £800 though - does that sound reasonable?
(Not something I'd every be capable of doing myself)Loving my D4 HSE -MY10......!!!!

A pair of lower arms and bolt kit is £300 so personally I would say £800 is a bit trumpy.
If you got really lucky and the bolts all came out you could be clear in a couple of hours but ,most likely they won'tIID PRO

IMHO I wouldn't fit polybushes unless I was going to do lots of serious offroading. There is some suggestion they also add stress to other parts of the suspension !
I fitted the meyle ones which use rubber bushes but the rear one is all-rubber not oil-filled like the originals which does give it a bit more robustness.
My local indy fitted mine for about £200, I bought the arms myself from AF using the forum discount.Morris Dancers: Drinkers with A Dance Problem
