An appeal against censorship

The naughty word policy on this site must have been set to protect snowflakes and Mary Whitehouse types from exposure to trusty Anglo-Saxon words.

I mean, why the Censored can't we write " Censored "? It's used by all levels of society - including posh folk - many times a day. To hide it away behind a "censored" emoticon is pure bull- Censored . Only a horse's Censored would be offended by the word in common usage.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not a complete Censored . I would never use a word like " Censored ". That's beyond the Pale. But I do think we ought to be able to call a Censored a Censored . (Ooh ... naughty word got through. I'l have to wash my keyboard with soap.)

The naughty words used in this post were, in order of appearance:

1 and 2: The "f" word.
3: Poo.
4: Bottom.
5. Lady parts 1; like a twit but with an "a".
6: Lady parts 2; this is never said in polite company; my mum would thrash me if she were still alive.
7. Prick; not censored above and standing proud.

How about a slight easing of censor prurience? Mary's been dead a long time. Good Anglo-Saxon words help us to deal with the Censored -wittery (word no. 1 again) all around us.

I am all for the restriction.

In a forum, such talk can be misconstrued leading to epic bunfights.

Ah the fantastic days of old. Gin fuelled bun fights that would start on a Friday evening and finish with a hangover on Monday morning. And the best ones had a good flounce thrown in. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Depends....

Depends on the place, who's there & the context.

At work specific individuals persist in 'effin verbally it even with women present....sometimes it's the women who use the 'eff word.

I've been to meetings where proceedings have been halted as it's beefed deemed a swearing free meeting....especially the case when outsiders are involved.
Written - We can't use these words in emails inside or outside the company....words are detected & discoplinaries issued if you do.
If the 'eff word is used in a public place with people & especially children there - not really acceptable.
Ok they'll learn the words at some stage but parents should set an example

In Ireland (lots of close relatives there) its seems to be the norm to 'eff it & somehow it sort of it's in to the general parlance there. Even with quite posh people.

'Effin on here - is it really necessary ?
You aren't aware of whose reading the text in the posts.

There are degrees of swearing too Burger with two "g"s & no "r"
bluudy with two "o"s is sort of acceptable nowadays.

The rules that deploys the censor emoticon is about right. Rules set.
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.
