remove --:-- clock from d3 dash |
|
Hi All
Having fun with my new IIDTool and parts found online - on my '58 GS I now have auto headlights, wipers, cruise control, 3 flash indicators, auto park brake [on and off] and reflashed my body control and suspension ecus (just need the front bumper loom and sensors + shrouds and will add front PDC and fogs too)
I have also changed my stereo to an aftermarket one and have a really annoying --:-- clock on the dash .
I noticed that the IIDTool has an option to reflash the cluster for pre-07 discos to get the clock is there a way to remove the clock too?
Thanks

Because you have changed your head unit for an after market one you will no longer have the clock. The head unit is the main hub for the MOST system. I do not know of any software that will fix this.

Sorted it!
Mounted the old head unit in the boot side panel - gave it a permanent live and connected into the CAN +/- connection on the PDC controller behind the same panel - 4 wires and really simple.
I now have a good android head unit and a clock that doesn't say --:--.

Could you send some pictures of how you installed the head unit.
Did you run the fibre optic cable to the head unit in the boot?
Did you use the amplifier under the seat with the new unit?
If so how did you connect it to the new unit?
Or did you connect the speakers directly to the new unit? How?

Luckily for me I had the low specification audio package so had little more than the basic head unit with no most ring, gvif navigation or additional amplifier of the Harmon kardon system.
Therefore it was a simple switch of the head unit, a wiring loom iso adapter and a steering wheel resistive button interface.
I believe you would likely need to replace the current amplifier with one or more standard amplifiers (depending on the number of channels you need) and run new phono cables from the new head unit pre-amp outputs rather than being able to use the most optical fibre a d existing amp.
In theory l suppose you could take the same approach with the old head unit in the boot. I would have thought you would just need a new long most cable to go from the old head unit along the inner floor trim to the original screen. The can feed is available from the PDC ((parking sensor controller) just behind the passenger side c pillar cover. That should maintain the 4x4 info as I would assume the original navigation, phone etc would be replaced by the new head unit.
That said - I've only had a look at the wiring diagram for your current unit and not actually seen the connections in real life!
Hope you find a more concrete answer!
