One thing after another...
Well discovery ownership is certainly a rollercoaster ride. Last week I had a split in the long turbo pipe. This week a loud hissing under load, black smoke etc. I thought another hose maybe. No. This...

Afaik the car is standard tune. That's a valid point regarding oil. You would think if it was split it would force oil out. I haven't had chance to properly look today but I know while driving its back down on power and throwing black smoke, hissing under load. I'll have a better look when I get home. I think I'll take the front bumper off etc and have a good look.Jarrod

Check the shorter pipe, I had mine split (a silicone hose too) a few years back , difficult to see it when not under load though Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Well I've had a bit more of a nose. I'm guessing I've got a heat shield missing because I can easily see the turbo to metal small length hose it's the one in the background of the picture below. It looks ok but I think I'll try and get a better look when tomorrow.
How hard is it to remove the intercooler ? Front bumper off ?

Yes front bumper off, here's mine before I replaced it at the weekend. There is a 8mm screw which holds the ducting on which took me 2 hours to get out. Removing wheel arch liner and FBH exhaust lower mount will help.
Good luck

I've had a look today and I'm fairly sure it's the intercooler that's split. I think I'll be ordering an rs500 one seen as they are quite reasonably priced. I've had a search and see that people talk about reducers etc. Has anyone got a list of the actual parts needed or links ? Jarrod

I replaced my intercooler recently. I'm not a total novice but it still took me 9 hours... So wait for a dry day! Some of the screws are really difficult to get to and in my case I had one stick in the bumper I wasted time trying to extract before drilling it off. Think about upgrading it given the effort to get to.
However, replacing with a brand new Land Rover intercooler transformed my car.

I'm certain that it's cracked ala the original post.... I'm going to replace it with a rs500 unit. Please can someone tell me what other parts I need ? Which size reducers etc ? I'm sure the details are on here but I can't find them. Jarrod

Well after putting up with all the various problems I decided to start tackling the car today. Intercooler removed but the "crack" in the pic above turns out to be a jagged scratch. In fact the intercooler doesn't look that old now it's off. I'll do a low pressure and leak detector test on it and hopefully if it's ok just refit it. At the moment with all the other problems I've got with the car the last thing I need is to spend money on parts I don't need when I have so many parts I do. Jarrod
