Discovery 5 - Current discounts available |
|
I'm not in the market for a D5 until JLT:-
Sort out the poorly designed "back end" - a split tailgate like the D3 & D4 would be MUCH better; &
Produce an electric, or Petrol Electric Hybrid version.
I'm told that "four figure" discounts are already available - I haven't chased these up, but hear that a friend achieved a discount in excess of £1k through CarWow.

Indeed discounts are currently too small for there to be problem shifting them and, therefore, a redesign seems unlikely.
There was an interesting letter in the Sunday Times motoring section this week from dog owners saying that the new boot was too small. For me I like the large boot and easy 3rd row access. If these factors have disappeared on the new car then making the back end look acceptable won't work so I will look at other brands for my replacement which is a shame having just had a near 15 year run with LR. The only chance of staying is the Defender replacement...otherwise I'm off once my Disco has had another 2/3 years with me. 2014MY Discovery

Interestingly I had a new washing machine and packaging plus a weeks food shopping in the boot and still had row 2 seats up at the weekend so the boot is not that small. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

I suppose it's perception and the new boot will still be one of the largest on the market.
Having struggled to get out of the 3rd row of a Q7 once I had got in (!) I am sure that the D5 scores relatively well in that department, however, a number of people have mentioned that on both measures 'large' is still less than you used to get. 2014MY Discovery

In The Sunday Times letter in the motoring section, they also warned dog owners that the boot was too high for their dogs to jump into. They didn't say if they'd lowered the back or not though.
As they had owned a D4 before the D5, I did wonder if perhaps it was anybody here. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
