When I removed the upper trim from the rear aperture I could see where dirt and water had been getting in = thanks to the clever design of this panel it traps water in sections and lets it drain.
Matching thr dirt leak to the body work the only place that could be guilty is the electrics grommit.
So I popped the grommit out, cleaned it and the aperture, then coated with silicon spray, reseated it nicely and tested with the watering can - job done!
