Ash tray carrier - removal
Gents, I've read lots of threads on the infamous ash tray spring issue (i.e. it falls off and stops the ash tray from closing fully) and the write ups that say remove the H-panel & centre console to get to the unit. I've also seen the bulletin ref. LTB00313 which suggest the ash tray carrier can be removed without doing the above.
I'm seeking advice please from anyone who has removed the carrier as per the bulletin.
After removing the ashtray, the bulletin says "Using suitable tools, gently press against the ashtray
carrier fixing clips and remove the ashtray carrier. "
To me, it appears that you actually have to lever the carrier and housing apart to allow clearance for the tabs on either side of the carrier to clear the stop lugs on the housing (these are not what I'd call fixing clips!) This appears to require some considerable force and lots of experimentation on what constitutes "suitable tools"....
Should I persevere and increase the force I'm applying, or am I missing something....?
Thanks!

Tayaste - many thanks for your reply.
I have seen the threads that cover removal of centre console, H-Panel, etc. My enquiry is about removing the ashtray carrier from the main dashboard unit per the bulletin I referred to.
