Iid Bluetooth new owner help |
|
Evening all.
I've managed to get myself an iid tool, I've contacted gap and paid for the ownership transfer. Tomorrow is going to be attempt to start using day. My primary concerns are... if I read right I need to update the tool to the latest software, is this done with a laptop via Gap's site ? Sorry if this seems a dumb question but I'm trying to get to grips with the 178 page manual. I'm not looking to get into anything heavy with the tool just yet, probably check my injectors and fault codes to see if I can get to the bottom of the rough idle I've got.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated or point me in the direction of some threads that already cover this. I've had a search but most of the threads seem to relate to the non bt tool. Incidentally I'll be using an iPad Air with the gap app as an interface.
Thanks guys. Jarrod

Presumably you have registered on the GAP website. Log in to your account, go to My Products and How to Update, which will tell you the following.
" How To Update
If you haven't done so already, please download IIDTool Updater and install it.
Start the IIDTool Updater.
Plug your IIDTool into the USB port of your computer and wait about 10 seconds.
Click on the 'Find Device' button. If your device is plugged in correctly and your computer connected to the Internet, you will soon see information about your device.
Click on 'Updates...'. If you don't have the latest firmware version, it will be detected and you will be asked to update. Click Yes.
To update your IIDTool, press the 'Program Firmware' button.
To view the latest instructions for your device firmware, click on 'Manual' and a PDF document will open in your favorite internet browser"

Thanks guys,
The previous owner updated the firmware to the latest version before selling so that's sorted. I've also registered with gap and paid them the £25 transfership. I'll see about registering the tool with them in the morning.
That link is exactly what I was looking for.
My car is a 7a chassis so already has the 3 flash/COD/4x4 info/nav on the move, are there any other updates that people recommend ? Jarrod

send them an email with your details and the transaction details of the change of ownership.
I paid up etc. on a Sunday and couldn't register on website, so did the email job and within 15mins of them being at work on the Monday I received an email, please keep in mind that they are 5 hours behind us so will be after 1pm tomorrow that you will get a reply
