A funny thing happened yesterday.....
I closed the back door on the D5 yesterday and all of the rear lights turned into a fabulous light show!
All of the lamps (absolutely all of them, including reversing lamps, fog lamps, indicators and even the independent bottom and top sections of the tail lamps and the high level brake lamps) all started flashing in some kind of coordinated light show!! What the heck was that all about? It didn't stop until I went to turn the ignition on and off again
And no, I wasn't taking drugs, there were others that saw it too!
Is this some kind of intentional function I didn't know about, or just screwy canbus wiring? With the opening of the tailgate being erratic and the electric plank not working from the off, it might be the latter...

They found a wiring fault on mine the other day, a wire that was chafed so maybe something like that?
The plank operation depends on which method you use to open the tailgate, with the key it will drop but if you prees the tailgate button then it stays up.
Was this what you were experiencing?

I didn't know that, but no, it won't lower electrically under any circumstances

They light show was every bit as entertaining, though the gull wing doors are new!
I'm not convinced that I didn't find an Easter egg!

Yes its the 'happy alert' it goes off when the vehicle detects that the once unhappy D5 dis-liker becomes a D5 lover, you may not realise this at the moment however your emotions are a dead give away (to the car)
The system uses the same sensors that are used to to pick up on driver fatigue In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

It's funny you should say that though, just as I got into the car it same up with the message "Driver fatigue alert not available". We would see to have a malfunction there!
