Suspension Fault

Morning All,

Quick query / advise

I have a 59 plate Disco 4 GS and for the last few days I have been intermittent Suspension Faults,

It's fine when left for a while but all of a sudden i get the error, I have raised and lowered the car and that works fine so I'm not sure what I need to do

Any advise / feedback ?

thanks

Jason

Hi jpy10
I've a similar issue on my much loved 54 plate 4.4 V8.

I've lost the use of the terrain dial, and get the dreaded orange dashboard light of Disco in brackets and !.

Friendly mechanics have suggested a £1000 (all in) cost to replace and fit a new compressor, as they'll need to source the compressor from Land Rover.

Like jpy10, any advise or suggestions please. Ta

I bought a compressor service kit from eBay, came with all the seals, the moisture-absorbing granules and comprehensive instructions. Took me a couple of hours to remove, rebuild and re-install with new bolts and spire nuts in the chassis. I was having increasingly frequent suspension faults. When I took the compressor to bits the most obvious fault seemed to be the granules in the 'drier' had all coagulated into a big lump that was restricting the airflow.

I rebuilt it beacuse I was quoted £800 for a new compressor plus labour, so I think for around £70 for the kit, new bolts and spire nuts it was well worth it, even if it lasts 12-18 months.

This was January time I think, and all is well so far. No more faults, and the thing shoots up from lowest to highest setting. It also fills the reciever in bang on two minutes.

Im not a mechanic, but I'll have a crack at most things and I was expecting the compressor to be a much worse job than it was.

Advice - soak the rear air pipe connections in WD40 or similar a week or so before you plan on removing it and they should come out of the push-fit connections. Also order ALL the bits you might need, you can always send them back if you don't use them.

Did my drier just over a week ago now after months of intermittent lights, error, bongs and refusing to lower to access mode all now working fine, really easy job except for the beeping top bolt.
