I've not had to do it thankfully, but I've read on here it needs a very strong pull. Probably need to put something through the loop and give a very sharp pull.

Hopefully someone will be along shortly with some hands on experience. Don't keep using the handbrake though until it's sorted.

It looks like the pull is hinged on the right hand side and as you pull it it brings the cable up unless I am being to gentle with it!

Make sure you're pulling the wire cable and not the red lever which is the emergency gearbox release mechanism. The wire cable is accessed by undoing the 2 x Philips screws and removing the plastic plate under the cup holders.

Surprised Get the jack handle or something strong to use on the loop of wire and pull as hard as you can, if it doesn't release you need to pull it even harder! Then get the EPB shoes cleaned and adjusted and reset the EPB - have a read at Bodsys Brake Bible as mentioned above Thumbs Up

Thankyou once again for replies I was indeed pulling on the gearbox release and not the handbrake, managed to strip the handbrake shoes and free off the seized levers, next the battle with the cover on the handbrake module first getting at the screws and then breaking the silicon seal, my brother in law and a friend turned up just at the right time and and managed after a lot of sweat and cursing to rewind the mechanism so once again a working hand brake, thankyou disco mikey and bodsy for your guide,I have supplied a nice brick to put under the wheels as don't want to re-visit this again to soon! Nice fix there. If it's operational again now and properly adjusted, you're probably better to start using it than not! Thumbs Up

I agree use it or loose it. Always use my park brake every time I stop and in 12 years of ownership only had one occasion of screeching, and as it was still in its initial 2 Year warranty, was reset FOC.
