Interesting to compare the two options one being a 6mm ally plate the other an 8mm steel frame.
Discotech opted for the 6mm thick plate presuming that it would bend in an impact therefore not sending all the impact forces up through the chassis, also acting as a skid plate.

Yes the vertical support broke off. This was only butt welded to the horizontal slider plate. The Mk2 will have angle welded into the joint.
