Possible injector problem. Stroud Glos Garage?
Hi all. I've had my Discovery 3 for about 6 months now and recently it's started to judder a bit around 2,200 rpm and when accelerating above that the rev counter will go up in increments of around 200 rpm instead of smoothly. It seems more noticable when in "command shift" mode, but that might just be me.
I'm thinking it might be injectors as it's a bit grumpy when starting from cold - sometimes needing two turns of the key.
Can anyone recommend a good garage near Stroud (Gloucestershire) that knows their Discoveries? I saw a thread where alfamale and Dboss were talking about garages local to me. If either of you notice this thread, I'll gladly take any recommendations.
Has anyone had any luck adding injector cleaner of some sort to their fuel? I'm a bit wary of this as I don't want to provoke the Disco into having a major engine related tantrum.
Starting issues are often glow plug related - depends if it was worse when really cold.
But in truth the only way is to get the codes read and go from there - arm chair diagnosis is always going to be a bit of a guess!Mark.

Hi alfamale,
I haven't yet, but I'd looked at their web site and they're now top of the list to contact. Good to hear some else has used them and found them to be ok.
Thanks for the reply

Hi
I used CMS - I've found Mark is straight down the line!
Have had various bits done outside my service plan with LR.
Recently sorted my EGR issues
Can only speak from personal experience but 100 times better than our local Main stealer.
Good luck

Thanks for the reply Ackers. It's good to hear from a satisfied customer as I expect I'll parting with more than a few quid in the near future!

Hi Bacon,
Are you a member of the AA?
I have the BRC cover about £100 a year. This year I've had EGRs replaced & new EPB!
It covers the first £500 of any claim - may be worth a look. Helps soften the blow a little & for me I've saved money by not having a full warranty. A calculated risk that so far I'm up a few quid.
Also can you get any one to,read any fault codes you may have.
Where are you in Stroud? I'm in the Stanleys.

Hi Ackers,
Yes, I am. I wasn't aware of the BRC cover, but after reading the T&Cs last night a £100 a year sounds like a bargain for what it covers given the grief it could save. I'll definitely look into that over the weekend.
I was planning on getting CMS to read any fault codes on the vehicle. At some stage I may fork out for a Faultmate FCR from BBSSpy if they're still available, but I'd like to get some outstanding problems on the Disco sorted before that.
I'm opposite the police station, in the flats overlooking Parliament St car park.

I've tried to use CMS several times for my disco 2. Every time they have had a 2-3 week waiting list.
They've been helpful when I've gone in there, but the works I've needed have been more time critical than that, so never actually used them.
However any garage that booked up ahead must be doing something right.

Hi TCR,
It's going in tomorrow for some rear suspension work as the rear tyres wear on the inside - so I should know soon enough! I did have to book in about a fortnight ago.
In between me starting this thread and now, the replacement prop came loose and took out the fuel tank. The garage that did that bit of work replaced fuel tank FoC and refitted prop. It's also looking more likely that the torque converter is on the way out, so I'm getting my fill of Disco ownership at the mo.

My d3 is in at alltrack 4x4 at the moment having some work done. Don't expect to get much change out of £700
Thankfully the d2 is still soldiering along fine. I haven't had to spend a penny on it in almost two years.

Hiya - Yup i used CMS in Stroud for recent service... couldn't fault the advice and service. When you drive up comes across as a classic back street garage, but then you don't want to be paying for glossy look - just quality engineering.Loving my D4 HSE -MY10......!!!!
