Compressor type - advice and service |
|
Hi,
I'm getting the "normal height only" message. So I've just checked what type of compressor I have fitted. I got the cover off (the bottom hex bolt sheared of course) but I can't see any name of compressor only
Landrover LAND ROVER - RQG500150 T415Z.... is this the Hitachi unit? ..... I'm guessing someone has already replaced this as it has some white writing on it ... as if its been on a shelf in a breakers...
Anyway I would like to try a service kit, dessicant, air dryer cap change etc.... can anyone recommend which is the best one to try..... also what else am I best advised to purchase in case of breakages getting it off.... )voss conectors, bolts etc?
Am I daft servicing it or should I go straight for a replacement? Its my wifes car and I can't really afford to have it off the road...
cheers
Rob

In the long run it seems a replacement is the best way forwards....

Dont waste your time and money, I did buy service kit to make hitachi works again, but always comes again that error, buy a dunlop one, which is compatible and cheaper and it solve the problem

i spent time and money trying to repair mine
gave up and bought a new one, best thing i did , at least i don't have to worry about it for a good few years
also bought a new bracket that had new bushes , when the compressor is on i can't hear it whilst sitting in the landy
make sure u buy new bolt fixings that hold the bracket onto the chassis
when i removed the bracket i took the time and put some hammerite on the chassis
also bought the dunlop one

hi
bought mine from advanced
the hardest part is getting the inlet and exhaust pipes out from the old compressor , normally have to cut the pipes, then get some pushfit couplings to rejoin
u might be lucky and get them out
pipe sizes are 8 and 10 mm
so if u get a 8 mm and 10 mm push fit coupling
short piece of pipe, again 8 and 10mm
if u look on the advanced web site u can buy a kit, that has 2 x short bends and the 2 x couplings req
also make sure u get 3 x chassis clips that holds the compressor bracket onto the chassis and new bolts
when u remove the bracket , check the rubber bushes haven't perished
get some hammerite , then when u remove the bracket u can quickly paint the chassis
the dunlop compressor comes with a new relay , u just push the new pipes onto the compressor
hope that helps , please feel free to ask anything , there's many of us here who have fitted new compressors and been where u are

no probs
i did buy a new bracket with the bushes already fitted
can't remember if it's cheaper to buy the whole thing or buying seperate bushes
they do have everything on the advanced web site or give them a ring , very helpful

My Dunlop compressor came without a relay, is it necessary for the Disoxvery 3?? Also the compressor has a nut for the inlet pipe and not a push connector collet, any ideas on how to connect??

I've just sourced a compressor from advance factor and can recommend them. Fitting kit (included on special offer) included pipe/fittings/bolts etc. Just missing a 10mm connector but easily sourced locally. Compressor arrived next day and job done in a couple of hours.
Thought I might also have a dodgy height sensor but all seems fine now
