Upper tailgate jammed
The rear door on our early D4 is stuck. This happened when the Top tailgate wasn't closed fully and a warning came up on dash. Stopped car and gave the tailgate a firm push to close it properly. Now it won't open at all. It seems to be jammed shut on the right corner. The handle doesn't depress and makes no noise. Getting 2 dogs, 5 people and loads of potholing gear in and out of the D4 today is going to be a pain. Are there any quick fixes ?Disco 4 TDV6HSE

Try the unlock button on key whilst pulling at the upper tailgate.

Good advice, thanks. Got it open using the tailgate open button on the key (I have had this car for 5 years and 180k miles and have never used that button before ;0) whilst pulling on the handle. But now that is the only way she will open. Tailgate seems to no longer unlock using the normal vehicle unlock button and locks each time it shuts even if all other doors are open.Disco 4 TDV6HSE

If the tailgate is open and you press the tailgate switch, does anything happen? It's probably that the switch has corroded (screenwash etc gets in the switch) as the actuator itself works ok when you use the keyfob button.
You may also find that closing everything uo and locking the door, letting it go to sleep and then trying again tha it may work as the tailgate handle logic will stop it being operated too many times on the trot without being opened.Bodsys Brake Bible
