Get a MY15 and forget yet another thing to have to keep an eye on.

You can get rear air con then too, which stopped at MY15

Im not sure if the cars on ad-blue will be more hassle, but i can say with some authority that the trucks are way way more hassle, in fact nowadays I would estimate more than half of the issues are after treatment related.

On the trucks it all started in 2006 with SCR Euro4 then they only had pre and post temp sensors and were pretty reliable, then they added pre nox sensor then pre and post nox sensors then more complicated nox sensors for Euro 5 2008 now we have been on Euro 6 since 2014 Censored pain in the rear.
Now they have modded them again called it obd something or other so the truck can test the quality of the ad-blue and several other bits and quite frankly Ive lost interest!

Iirc the Euro 6 dpf and scr cats are meant to be good for 500 odd k then they are dead, its going to be this sort of thing that kills perfectly serviceable vehicles the world over.

Imagine your 10 yr old D4 needing 2/3k spending on an exhaust and it HAS to work to pass the future ever tighter mot and you can see where its going.

God Im sounding like an old fart harping on about morris minors being the best car ever Mr. Green

Thanks all for views/advice Thumbs Up

I guess where I'm confusing myself with all of this is more about £££

Am I right in thinking:

No road tax advantage in having AdBlue as with/without are both £295?
Residuals will be stronger on vechicles with AdBlue (crystal ball stuff, I know)
Euro 6 will be the realistic minimum expectation in the next 5+ years??? (that crystal ball again!)

There is no VED/RFL advantage on the Adblue cars and I'd suggest that any changes in VED between the Adblue and non Adblue cars will be so negligible as to not be a concern.

Diesel will eventually take a hit one way or the other, we can see that coming regardless.

I don't think we will see any real difference in price between adblue and non adblue cars as we're not seeing it now, and you don't really see it in other makes either.

Personally for me, I don't want the faff of another tank of stuff to worry about, premature wear of exhaust or other items, plus yet more sensors and failsafes to leave me stranded - we have enough of those as it is without being a beta-test for LR's fitment going forwards.

That said, if they do make VED changes then it could be that you save a few quid - I'd not hinge my purchase on it either way.

Let's put it another way - I had the chance of getting a MY16 car with Adblue or my car without - I didn't hesitate to grab mine asap before the system came in. (This decision probably also shows my bias! Laughing )

Oh and as more Euro6 as minimum - there are far too many reasonably new cars out there with lower than Euro6 - there would be uproar if they set some sort of minimum standard for cars on the road like that - they won't do it.

I believe their fight is now with the internal combustion engine period.... expect to see everything biased towards electric BEV and Hybrid, all running smaller, very clean, petrol engines with electrical boost or pure battery power.

This is one reason why I won't buy a D5 with a Diesel engine, can't see it being a good choice and I feel it'll depreciate even quicker than the D4.

There are reports of the Ad Blu injectors melting

This on the DS site.

My wife's Disco Sport (2.0 Auto Reg March 2016, 15,000 miles) started to show a yellow caution warning and announced that the exhaust fluid was of the wrong quality, and that the engine wouldn't re-start in 400 miles, unless we got the problem sorted. Back to the dealer again (last time it was a warning about a camshaft fault). It turned out that the Adblue injector had melted, and couldn't be removed from its position just distal to the DPF in the exhaust system. Car now working OK with a new DPF and injector and fresh Adblue. Worrying to see a fault such as this in a new car.
Has anyone else with an Ingenium engine had a similar experience?

Then another three people said they had the same problem.

After a year and half I've had no problems with the AdBlue system, just fill it up and forget about it.

The EU5 buses (Dennis) / coaches (Volvo) at work have been faultless but our EU6 Volvo coaches have been a bit problematic, poor AdBlue quality etc

Considering that the annual road death figure in the U.K. is around 2,000 individuals, but the figure for deaths due to outdoor air pollution is around 40,000, does anyone else feel that the significant reduction in NOx emissions as a result of fitting AdBlue and SCR's might be a consideration? An even more significant consideration than the inconvenience of having to fill an AdBlue tank once every 12,000 miles or so?

Ad blue for me....

Also depends on what you are comparing VEDMwith, MY12 was over £400 so moving to MY16 is a considerable saving Rolling with laughter
