might no be what you want to hear

I suppose you have this reported to the Police ?

How did they get entry to the D3 - have you both the keys ?
.....unlike a D4 with keyless entry (that can be cloned ) I am led to believe D3's are different & more secure.

If you have both keys - have you had the D3 at a dealer, garage or repair shop recently ?
if you have theres the opportunity for some unscrupulous git to copy keys - if this is has happened you need to let the Police know right away. My next door neighbour here lost his D4 this way.

you need to let the authorities know right away too
- Insurers
- DVLA so if the chassis number pops up in some application it can be tallied to the fact the D3 is a stolen one
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Thanks for the replies.

Okay...the thieves broke into the house, and took the keys to three cars...Yaris, Multipla and the D3....we noticed all these cars missing at about 7am.

Police duly informed, and they did a check the proximity of the cars...Preston apparently has a ring of ANPR camera's, and none of the cars had crossed....so still in Preston.

We decided to scour the area ourselves....found the Yaris..then the Multipla. Finally this evening, a last clutch of straws, and there she was..the D3 parked up in a not so nice part of town. As I had spare keys, I got in and drove them all back to my house, duly informed the police, and thanked them for their hard work.

No damage to any car, but the rotters took the Nanocom...which would be useless to them!

Now for the D3, I need to figure out what to do with the locks and ignition....as they have a key too.

See if they had a D4 they wouldn't need to break in to the family home ...they would just take it off the drive ...much safer Thumbs Up

I'm guessing the cars already had his DNA on them anyway.

Good news that you got them back. I guess you could ask the insurance to stump up for new keys to be coded to the ECU. If you already have a crime ref number it'll be reflected in next renewal anyway. Failing that, you could use a physical lock (crook lock or pedal lock) but they're just inconvenient for Day to day life - I'm having to use one at the moment Big Cry Big Cry

I like the idea of the thieves returning to where they'd parked them to find that they've all been "stolen"...

Yes, a little consolation in knowing that if they went back for the cars, they would have been perplexed and probably wondered how the police found them so quickly : Razz

The police advised me to drive the cars back, but "try not to touch too much"....I guess it shows how much confidence they have in catching them.

I didn't know the insurance companies could pick up on the crime reference number.
Anyway, I will see if they will pay for new keys and lock. However, am I right in thinking that I could get another fob, and reprogramme both of the ones I have to the D3..thus invalidating the stolen key? The blade would still be the same though.

Worth changing the locks especially as you only have the macaroni lock and ignition barrel to change. Ignition barrel takes seconds but the macaroni lock is a bit more of a fiddle.

Thieves leave the cars for a couple of days to see if they have an active tracker fixed - happened to husband of a work colleague when he had a Shogun nicked.

Good news you have them all home - maybe get a Disklock for the Disco?
