596 miles of fun so far.
Been pushing the envelope on my private test track and still not got the DSC to kick in, in the D4 on one corner the DSC would engage at 70mph. I'm up to 78mph on the same corner in the D5 and no sign of DSC. An analogy:- D4 is like a Hippo compared to the D5 that feels like a Cheetah.
Seats are great, rear visibility is better, very commanding driving position, dash is spot on, electric tailgate.. so easy to use and very very very useful, 6 up for 3 hours and NO complaints, experienced 3 row passengers said it's a better ride 'less wallowing'.

Electric tailgate and 3rd row passenger comfort sound good, only benefits of use out off that list... although I have to admit no split makes it very awkward for how I use that car and we've used the third row 6 times maybe in two years so a £30,000 uplift in cost seems a bit pricey for what I'd get out of it.

Pushing a huge heavy SUV to its limits round corners isn't my cup of tea so not really a wow moment for me that you can go round corners 8mph faster.

Looks of the car are growing on me though, like the front now I've seen a few, I'm one of the few that like the numberplate position but the rear and quarter sections still look too odd.

When they go hybrid and have some modern engines I'll take another look....

Glad you're enjoying it, keep hearing a stupid advert about a man wanting calm in a storm by using his phone app to squash his children in the seats... are you finding that feature useful?

Rolling with laughter I think Andrews children are a bit big to be squashed by the back seats. Wink

Has anyone worked out why LR used such silly little brake lights on the D5 yet? I hated the fact that the shogun had huge light clusters but poxy separated brake lights and now LR have gone and done it - they are at odds with the size of the car to me....

I expect the reversing lights are just as bad and similar to the Discovery Sport; Atrocious. You have to brake in order to stand a chance of seeing where you're going when reversing. And, no, LED upgrades make no difference in the Sport either.

The reverse lights seem a bit better than on the DS. Though no where near as good as the flood lights fitted to the D4.

No, it's never really caused me any concern. They're small but bright enough to be seen, but there seems a lot of wasted space in the lighter cluster.

It's because the style & look of the vehicle took prededence over the size & purpose of what the lights do.
LR have always fiddled about with lights especially on the back of its vehicles bigger, different shape, different position etc it's a low cost way of making things different at some point......a low cost facelift.
Look back & consider DIsco 1's, 2's & 3's have all undergone "enlightenment"
One would have thought there was a standard or regulation on the actual size & illumination....the only regulation I see is the position on the vehicle.
Strange to think the newest incarnation of the Disco has issues with this....

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Yup, the lights are very bright.

There is a standard for illumination, which the D5 meets.

Having followed a D5 t'other day I can confirm the brake lights are bright. I'd say brighter than "the greatest vehicle in the world" (the D3). They are small and bright which might make them seem brighter than a bigger light, of course.

Whatever, they are more than adequate.
