Metallic noise from back of D3 |
|
Hi guys, I know this is a very vague one, but just wondering if this is something people have had before...?
Got a metallic 'clank' from the back of our D3 when driving. Can't see/feel anything loose, I'd assume any suspension arm bush, CV joint or diff issue would be more of a dull knocking?
As I say, very vague, but thought I'd ask...! TIA

Get SWMBO to sit in the boot with the dog and drive around a while. Don't do what I did and leave her in there while you go for a cheeky pint though.

Had similar and discovered it was the exhaust heat shield that had come partly loose.

I also had a metallic noise from the back of mine, similar to the knocking sound you get when moving a fridge. I have only heard it off road though. Checked all the arms etc on the back suspension and didn't find any problems so can only presume it must have have been a harmonic damper, unless anybody has any other ideas?

I Had similar recently.... had to replace both droplinks. Also this weekend I noticed that the heatshield on the nearside rear above the exhaust had come loose. This was cable tied for now until I figure a long term fix.
SP Mods so far:
New wheel winch
Instrument upgrade (clock on dash)
D4 fascia + Garmin nuvi
LED side light, interior etc
New FL2 rear wheel arch seals
Parrot MKi9200 hands free kit
