I think it could be read on the early 1D models but Canon decided to remove the function from later bodies for some reason  Cheers Ian

The shutter count can be read on the 1DIII & 1DIV using the EOSinfo software, the later 1DX has the shutter count available in the menu system.

Canon took it off on 1D mk3 and 1D mk4 but its now back on 1dx and 1dx mk2, though it only gives an approximation not actual count on 1dx models.
Strange thing is The 1dS mk3 you could read the shutter count, go figure.
You can try shutter count site but pretty certain will not work and its not listed as a working model on list D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

Ok I'll edit my above post;
The shutter count can accurately be read on the 1DIII & 1DIV using the EOSinfo software, the later 1DX has the shutter count available in the menu system but an accurate shutter count is also available using the EOSinfo software.
