Had this flash up twice now.
D4 registered 03/06/2015
Service carried out on 02/06/2016@ 7161 miles
By my reckoning, next service is due on 02/06/2017 or 23161 miles (currently on 12200 miles), whichever comes first.
I'm assuming electrical gremlin or the like. I thought the D4 had over come the D3's ability to spit the dummy on the electrical side. Or does it need investigation?
Also, On Line print out shows that my warranty started on 30/06/2015, have LR given me 27 days worth of extra warranty? Discovery 4 HSE

Similar thing to mine, registered 08/04/16, currently on 9500 miles, now getting a reminder on start up that I am due a service in 1800 miles, which willl put the mileage at 11300, a long way before the stated service mileage.
Is there a system that analyses the your driving and decides when a service is due
Edit: registration date amended

Mine doesn't give me a mileage countdown, just says Service Required
Only done it twice on start up (that I've seen). Obviously watching on every start up now, so I'm assuming just a blip. Discovery 4 HSE

Says service required on mine, Press OK and it displays the mileage that it is due.

I've just had the same thing happen to mine and it's now requesting its next service around 10,500 miles and 3-4 months after its last service. Did you get to the bottom of why it happened to yours? I'm fearing that it's engine oil dilution with diesel (FIO), but what did you all find was the cause and who had to pay for the unscheduled service? 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

If it was the oil dilution would you not get the Oil Service Required message rather than Service Due

Came up on mine about a month ago - service not due until December.
Spoke to Dealer who said I should bring it in so they could check the oil quality so booked it in.
Then went away on holiday and on return it decided it no longer needed a service so cancelled trip to Dealer.
It's now decided it needs a service again but not all the time so will keep an eye on it.
Guessing it's down to the number of DPF regenerations affecting the oil quality.

Thought I had escaped from this after moving from DS in July , quite a few owners had the service message via the in control app and visit to dealers resulted in free oil & filter change while under warranty .

It turned out to be dilution of the engine oil with diesel. Unlike the countdown to a normal service, the messages were erratic; sometimes it wouldn't show and sometimes it did, while the mileage countdown went backwards! I can see the temptation to ignore it but, with oil dilution potentially causing catastrophic engine damage, I'd suggest anyone that has a message like this gets it checked ASAP
An oil and filter change was done, a firmware update (to stop it happening again - apparently) was carried out and it was all done under warranty All completed inside half an hour (at County Land Rover in Barnstaple) as well.
