Mark DJI is the top end, no doubt there, I've see the toupys Ades had over the years, they're great bits of kit, the one Geoff has is great set up, I've been looking at Phantom 3 standards, they're around £400 with one battery.

To play about, I bought an MJX 405c copter off Dean on here last Dec, they're smaller and don't have all the GPS location stuff, but do have cameras etc., flight time is less too, but batteries are cheap, I have 3 at about 10-12 mins each, they do fly at a fair old pace too Laughing

It depends how sophisticated / automated you want it to be Thumbs Up

I just bought a Parrot Bebop 2FPV a couple of weeks ago (normal price £599 but I only paid a nett £200 for it, no brainer 8) ) - but the basic Bebop 2 drone can be had for less than £400

I flew it for the first time in basic mobile phone control mode yesterday (first rain free weekend day - soooo frustrating) and it flew an absolutely dream - fantastic piece of kit, can't wait to get out and about with it! Thumbs Up

Seems to be two mainstream medium-price domestic camps at the moment - Parrot with its Bebop 2 and DJI with their Phantom IV & Mavic - I went Parrot route because of price and also its expandability via Android Apps although I do recognise it wont do 4K (but I have a GoPro4 and a 3D printer to make a custom mount for it if I really want to try it)

Steve we started with the original Parrot long before DJI were doing the Phantoms. They were good fun but limited by the controls. If you want something to really play about with have a look at the 3DR drones they are open source with a big community. Thumbs Up

I'll make a note - I am but one flight into my drone activities and am already hooked, looking for interesting places to fly...

But right now, given the general hoo har about drones and the somewhat draconian restrictions that seem to be placed on their use in the UK, I'm struggling to see what more I would need without spending a bomb on the CAA certification thing... Rolling Eyes

I have to say I hear it flies superbly Whistle
