08 'skidding' when turning right

My D3 XS has developed a weird anomaly... when turning right the car 'skids' quite badly to the left mid turn. SWMBO says she can feel a grinding through the steering wheel. I rarely drive the car but have experienced it once... it literally 'jerks, across to the left? Been to an indie who also experienced it but can't fathom what it is (suggested traction control is incorrectly kicking in or maybe one of the suspension programs) but there are no fault codes, no lights come on the dash. Any clues wise ones?

Does the D3 'scrabble' when turning on a loose surface? i.e. front and back fighting each other.
If so then the transfer box may need recalibrating with a suitable diagnostic tool. If it was traction control/DSC then I think you would have a warning light at the time.

Thanks Stu, happens on normal tarmac road surface, nothing loose. Feels like actuall skidding?! Definately no lights. Need to be going at a reasonable speed and taking a r/h bend. Scary to drive.

I would start by checking all the suspension and brake components also drive shafts.

Mismatched tyres, wrong inflation can also effect this, wheeling bearings and bad alignment is a common problem that will also have those symptoms.

Thanks for your suggestions. I took the car out last night to try and replicate the fault... took it around a nearby roundabout a few times and indeed, over 20mph turning right there is a grinding noise (from n/s front) and there IS a warning light flashing on the dash, namely the DSC light, the car kind of 'digs in' and pulls left a bit.
Now I've seen it, and searching the forum it does suggest bearings, tyre pressures etc. which I'll get checked.
Again, thanks for your time replying.

Certainly is DSC kicking in. I think your on the money with tyres. Could be the steering angle sensor that's failed.

If it's come on suddenly, I would it's less likely to be suspension wear, as his would onset gradually.

If I turn DSC off (only until I get to the souce of the problem) - would this be not recommended?!

Shouldn't be a problem unless you drive like a loon. Worth trying to see if that has any effect.

One front tyre with a very different pressure to the other front tyre would cause this - so as said first port of call is tyre pressures - at least it would be an easy fix!

Rear n/s tyre was at 1.5 bar (although not visually noticeable), pumped up to 2.5 bar, test drive, all appears ok.
Fingers crossed!
Thanks for everyone's help.
