Immobiliser and damaged keyfob
Hey peeps. Brand new here. While changing the keyfob case I damaged the small immobiliser chip on the end of the board. Still locks and unlocks but won't start obviously. (Disco3). It's my dads car (I have a freelander). He has long lost the spare key so basically it's all my fault.lol so anyone have any advice. Spoke to landrover. Roughly £350. I know the chip has a resistance through it to match the car but is this replaceable? Clutching at straws here. No chance of finding the code to deactivated it using the key. Anyone know if it can be bypassed and taken out of use or any help at all would be great. Thanks all.

That black oblong thing on the board ?
Is it still there? or fallen off ?
If it's fallen off, might be an idea just to stick it on with bluetac and see if it starts the car.
Older cars just used to have one of them, but I guess its a different circuit these days.
Otherwise I think SOME ebay places repair them.
I think someone on here had one repaired recently

Yeah it's the small long part. It's still there but damaged. It's matched to the opposite part on spring he barrel. There is repair services available but you need a working one to copy. I'm under pressure on this one. Lol thanks god the reply.

I used a service I found on eBay, and it cost about £40 in total, with my existing busted key refurbished, new battery installed and a new case. The key has been flawless. You have to send your old key in, but mine was turned around in about a week.
