Discovery 3 Prices

Just been looking on ebay and prices are all over the place, if sadiq has his way mine will be going soon especially if he extends the ULEZ to the north and south circlers but have a couple of years yet.

back on topic I know most of us have a lot of money in these cars but a 2005 goes from 6k-14k, I would be over the moon if I got 8 for mine and I have spent a small fortune on it.

They do seem to vary a great deal. I sold my D3 to buy my rather unusual D2. But now we have young kids the Disco doesn't get much use because I cycle to work and my wife finds the landy too "bumpy" (it rides on HD coil springs). So I'm thinking of selling the D2 and her Octavia and going back to a D3 as a great 1 car all-rounder.

If I do I'll look for a 55 plate to save money on tax.

I'd expect to pay up to £10k for something with full history and less than 150k miles.

I like green but they seem remarkably rare considering it is such a traditional Land Rover colour!

We all know, an unloved dog is going to cost the new owner big bucks, and the old owner will let it go cheap to get rid, this is the way car prices are dragged down,

but a loved serviced beast is going to be well sort after and people will pay the extra knowing they wont get a nasty bill 6 months later,

so,

These machines are worth what ever people are ready to pay for them and how much your willing to let it go for, that's why the price is all over the place,

I'd rather pay good money for a good one rather than a cheap £5k one and find out the things about to go bang !

If someone told me they had paid 14k for a 05 I would naturally assume they were on some seriously good drugs Mr. Green

I reckon the D3 prices are going to drop, they have been steadily coming down anyway, if you read most of the threads on here you will notice the initial dismay with the looks etc for the D5 has faded so people will be trading in their D4 models and that will have a knock on effect.

Had a curious moment so checked out the price WBAC would give for a 126k mile, well serviced and sorted D3 HSE and it was £7k, a year agi it was £10k when on 110k miles.

Think I'll keep it until it dies.

Thanks Jester. I won't be able to buy a D3 until I sell the D2 as I'd need the right money for it. But I might have a nosey anyway. Which FB page was it?

Thanks!

What a car is worth and what a car's value is are two sepaerate things in my mind. I've had my my old bus 12 years and it has over 200k on the clock. Its probably worth between about £4500 but its value to me is imeasurable because of how it fits into my work, family and lifestyle. Its a brilliant car that does everything I want of it and also stupidly reliable, although it is a bit like triggers broom. Laughing

I keep going round the houses about replacing it and keep coming back to keeping it. I so was so looking forward to the D5 and went to buy it at the preview, but I was so disappointed when I saw it. Other than a D4, there is nothing out there that is comparable and a D4 doesn't give me any more than what I have now, other than bling.

So used D3s will become cheap, offer a lot of value for the money, but come with the caveat that they are expensive to maintain and repair.

moo

think it's the same with mine

bought my D3 dirt cheap as a project , starting with failed suspension and air bag light

nearly completed the air suspension and can slowly feel the rewards

exchanged my hippo as part of the deal. find the D3 is so awesome to drive, comfortable and quiet down the motorway

think when u put so much work into a vehicle u don't wish to sell it

not had mine properly off road yet and will be good to see how the FL1 and D3 compare

Personally don't feel the D3 is expensive to repair of maintain , don't drive mine every day

but when i do it always puts a smile on my face in how an awesome vehicle it is

have owned land rovers for over 30x years and must admit this is indeed the best one i've owned so far,

wish i had bought a discovery years ago, but alas had to work my way up the models and so pleased i've finally managed to own a D3
