France 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 SDV6 Commercial XS Auto Firenze RedDiscovery 4

My economy figures probably have something to do with the long empty motorways over here! Plus I'm a light-footed driver, seemingly, always have managed to get reasonable economy on all Discovery models I have owned....

For example, yesterday I had to drive from Dublin to Enniskillen and back, the readout is showing 7.0l/100km which is 40.3mpg, that's in the 2016 auto 5 seat, on a mixture of motorway and twisty A road equivalents, with one bad patch of slow traffic each way....

So if the Discovery 5 cannot match or better this, then what's the point??

Obviously we need some real world testing.....!!

Sorry to rain on your parade, but if you're taking the figures from the OBC, I would take them with a sack full of salt. My OBC reads 14% optimistic!

This is essential to package the seven full-sized seats which Land Rover says are crucial to the Discovery’s success – and which differentiates it from a Range Rover.

Is the centre second row seat really classed as "full size" ? Whistle

From the outside, I really thought they’d screwed it up. And I do think Discovery 3 and 4 will become standout classics in future. But make no mistake: this is one of the world’s most capable cars.

Good conclusion, IMO. Thumbs Up

At that point you lost the crowd. In no way can the standard dash display be used as an indicator of true mpg.

The rear of the car in the Autocar report does look a bit better with the smaller US plate. Over here a short reg with the plate cut down to legal minimum might help to improve it's backside Thumbs Up

Re: 7 adults

"This might be a silly question, but is the new Discovery big inside?
It’s enormous inside. Land Rover makes a big play on designing its vehicles from the inside out. The Discovery is big on the road, five metres long, wide and tall, but also massive on the inside. Adults feel almost child-sized up front, have limo-like room in the middle row and can even sit comfortably in the third row. Someone on the engineering team is 6ft 4ins and is fine in the seven-seat Discovery, we were told. He was squashed and had his head shoved into the roof when they tested Q7 and XC90. See: that stepped roof IS still functional."

Well just had the Auto Express e-mail in reviewing the D5.

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/land-rover/di...4707743651

Well, LR seem to have wined & dined [& probably bribed] them, they seem to actually love it.
Can't really see any negatives from them - especially re the back row seats, tailgate and lack of split tailgate.

[apologies if this has already been posted]
