Dunkeld LRE Trek Day - April 15th |
|
Anyone else going on the Easter Adventure Trek at Dunkeld?
I did the Fathers day Trek last year and really enjoyed it, looking forward to doing it again

I'd like to, but it's £150. Do you think it's worth it?

Yes, I'd say it is worth it. You get an hour or so to drive around the off road course then it is off on the trek. I went with all the family last year, got to see some fantastic scenery and we stopped for a picnic. Was a really good day out. Without having any green lanes up in Scotland it is a brilliant way to get some off roading safely and legally

No green laning?
Have a look at the Scottish Green Road Club (I'm a member). They organise green road runs, usually on Forestry Commission or Scottish Hydro land. Some routes more challenging than others.

How long were you driving for on the trek?

£150 would get FIFTEEN Green Road Runs with SGRC or SLROC. You would have to go on runs with both to get them all into a calendar year before saving another £150. I guess it is because these clubs do not have to pay organisers or make profit. And you get to see places where the tourists never go. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

I always mean to join SGRC & SLROC but haven't got round to it, looks like some great days out though.
As for green laning in Scotland, there isn't any public off road tracks (well not many) LRE, SGRC & SLROC all run their days on private land with permission from the landowners.
For me I felt that the LRE Trek was a good day out and good value, but I agree SGRC & SLROC is definitely something i'll look into.
Scott, IIRC we started driving at 10am and finished close to 5pm

The SGRC days out are good, but take a book for lunchtime - we can sometimes sit for up to 1.5 hours as members catch up with each other.....

Tends to be central belt - Loch Lomond, Aberfoyle - check the website for runs that they've done (there may even be some pics of me with the D4).

Oooh! There are! There are two videos of the D4 at the training day in Torphicen in July 2016, one going down a slope and the other going through mud ruts. Courtesy of Dan the Man.
