Hey dragonoak4x4 don't believe all you hear about VSR. I have an '05 D3 that has had LPG fitted from new by the first owner.
Only last year did any problems show up that were put down (by me) to VSR i.e. low cylinder compressions and valve clearances out of adjustment. Upon removal of the heads no significant valve or valve seat damage was found beyond that which might be expected for and engine of this age. (I had the valve clearances adjusted and the valves 'lapped in' by an engineering works).
If I'd taken it to the LPG specialists (LPG specialist because they understand LPG systems and V8 engines) they would have adjusted the valve clearances, which is all that was really needed though another problem with the LPG, which was causing the MIL to light (and which initiated the whole investigation into probable VSR) was down to the LPG injectors being clogged by Sulphidation or similar, in the end they needed replaced.
Only wish we could get Autogas for as little as 53.9p, it costs me 60.9p at my nearest outlet.
Thank you for that . Might sound like a daft question but what it the MIL light ?
Cheers

MIL light, also known as the 'check engine light' but is Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) has the outline of an engine.
