D3 Bluetooth Audio

Hi All,

My new ride is a 2006 D3 HSE with Harman Kardon audio.
Alas, there is no blue tooth fitted to either stream audio or do telephone calls.

I have searched here and other Oz based fora for a solution and there seem to be plenty for the base and mid audio fits, but a lesser amount for the HK audio fit.
Is there a difference in solution? Or is there a commonly accepted go to solution? I'd prefer not to use a USB, cig plug or 3.5 jack solution as they is ugly and not at all elegant. I'm also keen to take advantage of the HK audio.....coz I play it loud!

I have found some references to the Parrott and African Outdoor kits and a few other brands but no definitive go to solution. Others recommend fitting the factory D4 kit. What have y'all done in your rigs?

I also have a spare early model nexus 7 tablet that I intend to mount and use for maps, audio etc so I'd love to incorporate this.
FWIW, I have the audio controls on the wheel but not the telephone paddles.

Any advice?

I've also posted this on AULRO over here Oz so I am hoping I can get the answers I seek!

Cheers
Ralph

For phone, add a D4 Bluetooth unit, fully integrated with steering controls etc.

For audio you need to ACM, Audio Control Module, again integrated to steering wheel controls , then plug in iPod, or USB drive etc Thumbs Up

Thanks Beanie!
What is this Audio Control Module of which you speak?
Are they fitted already to the HK setup or is this an aftermarket kit?

I am new to D3 having recently moved from a D2 so I have much to learn!

get a Kinivo BTC 450 for about £30 GBP and it will do everything you need.

Audio Connectivity Module is the LR aftermarket kit for older style (pre lightning) Apple stuff. It gives much, much better sound than the 3.5mm aux socket. I use the BTC450 widget plugged into that, only down side is that steering wheel track change doesn't work but I can live with that.

Sorry Guys!
I should have declared my allegiance earlier....I'm not a fanboy!I drive android!

Will an ACM still do the trick or have I led y'all on a goose chase?

Johnny, I'll look into it!

On the AULRO forum here in Oz, I was asked to consider what I actually wanted to achieve and I have come to the realisation, that my main priority is to be able to stream/access/play audio to take advantage of the HK sound system. Whether this is by BT or USB is not so important.
I am willing to forgo handsfree calls and telecon stuff as secondary.

Cheers

the Kinivo will do both the streaming music (and you can skip / rewind tracks) as well as the handsfree calls.

I have just fitted the LR aftermarket telephone kit but the head unit do a not recognise it and still displays 'phone not fitted'. I'm hoping that this is a setting or software issue. Can anyone advise please?
