Selection of faults, after towing trailer?
I towed a friends car from Southampton back to Norfolk today. On the north side of the M25, at about 14:00, I noticed a park brake warning pop up. Info said 'Park Brake (fail?)'. I couldn't stop, so did another 20 miles to the services on the M11. Park brake appeared to work, on and off ok, no binding, so I carried on. I also noticed the gear indicator was very slow to indicate the next gear when I changed. When I got home, the display said 'auto park brake release not functioning' .
Checked battery voltage, and alternator output, thinking the alternator might have died, but seems to be ok.
Just scanned the car, list of faults below. The interesting ones are both at 14:09, Parking Brake, and transfer case.
Where should I start looking?

i had very similar turned out to be the brake bulb shorting on the trailer, got transmition fault, park brake fault, suspension lowered every time i pluged in the trailer lights if i towed without the lights plugged in all was fine, a brake bulb can cause sooooooo many problemsRange Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 what a car

I'll check the trailer out in the morning. I Just parked it up for tonight after a 400 mile round trip!
I borrowed the trailer from a friend, he has added side marker lamps since I last used it, and they are 24V led's. I did think that might be an issue when I took it.
Could 24V led's cause an issue? They were quite bright when I set out in the dark this morning.Richard

no idea about the led's but if the car drives ok without the trailer then its probably the lights mine went on a busy duel carriageway with no safe area to pull off not nice when the suspension lowersRange Rover Westminster 4.4 TDV8 what a car

Sounds like XY sensor has lost calibration possibly due to some clutch slip, you can recalibrate it. Have a look at this thread.

Thanks Stu, will try that.
It currently has Park Brake Fault, No Auto Park Brake Release, No Parking Sensors, I'm guessing no reversing lights. So that would add up with XY sensor.
Just out of interest, does anyone know why clutch slip would throw the XY position sensor out? The clutch slips every time I pull away. There cant be a flywheel to driven plate encoder surely?Richard
