When did misfueling device change! |
|
Word of caution if you ever need to fill up from fuel can!
At weekend went to top up MY16 from fuel can as not certain had enough fuel to make it back home.
Found metal plate across fuel filler neck and first thought the mis fueling device had been activated, found the old pronged tool but did not seem to fit as before or locate the two lugs on tool in neck. After a couple of mins the lugs on tool broke away.
Had visions of being stuck with no fuel, then remembered it should take some fuel albeit slowly, so proceeded to slowly empty can, took about 10 mins.
In between work found time to study manual further and it said if inserting proper diesel sized nozzle would release plate on fuel filler. (Tried this at garage next day all ok.) Then noticed another section on re filling from fuel can. Seems that you need to insert the new white fuel filler now supplied with later models to displace the metal flap in fuel filler neck.
Well I thought it was for the ad blue system on first seeing it and took it out of vehicle and left in garage
So a tale of warning if you are as silly as me and had not noticed this change D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

I had realised that it had changed but not sure when it changed.
I did wonder what the white filler was for and now I'm really wondering where I've put it; I just hope that it wasn't in the bin. One thing I am sure of is that it isn't in the car

Great mentioning it , since I thought the white one was for Adblue as well.
Seems I misread it back then (I can confirm - just re-read the chapter .. thoroughly this time ) D4

Thanks for the tip. I'd assumed the funnel in the glove pocket was for the Adblue too. Still in the glove pocket phew! As is the manual for ease of reference LOL.

I have a feeling it changed around MY2014 although my MY2015 came with both the funnel and the yellow mis-fueling piece of plastic Cheers Ian

I will go and check mine as I have the yellow reset tool, but don't have a white funnel, question is, should I have one ?

Looking at the owners manuals, i think the change to the white funnel happened with 2015 MY although it might have been a year earlier.

This has caused confusion on DS too - some have yellow reset and some have white funnel
I had MY16 and handbook mentioned both systems
I know of couple of cases where petrol was put in without device working so can't be relied upon imho Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW
