Prospeed alu welding- solved, thanks prospeed
Got my new front guard delivered, any advice on tidying up the fresh welding? Seems there's big white streaks down the joints. Can anything be done to neaten the look?
Looking to fit it tomorrow
I've tried scrubbing with wire wool on the back side, it removes the white slightly but scratches it

It might not be so noticeable when fitted. If it continues to bother you, having it powder coated black would be an option. I actually prefer them in black anyway.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

The naked alloy will dull down quite quickly over winter I would have thought. A bit of salt and hey presto. I wouldn't attempt to DIY as it'll look like you tried and failed.FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!

Doesn't look like Prospeeds past high quality work.
Don't see why you should have to powder coat it to cover up what looks like a poor job.
But I'd be especially critical around the cut outs.
Maybe it's just the pics, but the lines don't look straight and the edges not clean.
Looks like a homemade job with someone unskilled using a jigsaw with a too course blade.
Not good ....... don't think I'd want that on a quality vehicle.
Just my opinion of course going by the pics.I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

On reading Ronp's post I have to agree, the cutouts look very substandard on second viewing. I think Prospeed would be shocked if they saw what had been sent to you with their name on it.FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. Cost so much I must be mad!

I don't like complaining, especially in open forum when prospeed have been good to me. Their design is second to none.
I was a bit disappointed when I unwrapped it, as I'd bought new I was expecting more. I got over it, but now you've all mentioned it, it's a little poor. Hard to get photos as the light shines from too many angles but here's some of the finished edges.

Looking at those close up, look extremely amateurish. More like home diy finish with angle grinder.
Wouldn't be acceptable to me.

I have to agree, I would expect a better finish. Mine (non-Prospeed) and half the cost, has a better finish than that.
I would be contacting them and politely pointing out that it is below their usual high standards.
I don't like complaining either, but I do expect quality if I am paying for it!D3 HSE TDV6 Auto. Bonatti Grey.

Those cut outs are rough as a badgers , I'd be sending it back and requesting another one that had actually been done by someone with some degree of skill and pride. Looks like a Friday afternoon job done by a partially trained chimp.De-Tango

Never had any prospeed speed gear but as a very amateur self taught metal worker I can confidently say my cuts would have looked a whole lot better. I would contact them, could be a honest mistake and its missed some of the final processes and QC.MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten

Also got to say as a sheet metal worker that the finish of that product is extremely poor. I would be complaining to supplier / manufacturer and asking for a replacement or money back. Definitely would not be going on my vehicle.02 Defender 90 TD5
