What's the wait for a new Disco?

Just wondering what the wait is for a new Discovery without options and a Disco with options.
I had a mate who was tyre kicking a new Defender or Discovery and was told he would have to wait till next year, so He went and purchased a new Toyota 70 series and had it in 2 week.
Trust me, what could go wrong?

Don't know about Aus but in the Uk there are always vehicles available for immediate delivery if you are flexble on colour/spec. Factory order tends to be around 6 weeks to 3 months, although I hear the new Defender has a long lead time.

Hi Razzle. I ordered mine in May and it arrived last weekend. Long wait, but so far very satisfied with the vehicle. Terrific drive and very comfortable and some really clever touches. Feels really solid too.

When i ordered, I was told I could have one off the lot almost immediately unless i wanted some specific options. When I asked for the first option (sat nav) I was told they would have to build it. As far as I could work out if you wanted a standard vehicle withonly locally fitted options (eg. roof racks, side steps etc) the wait would be fairly short. if you wanted factory options or a colour they didnt have in stock, you're looking a 4 -5 months.

If your current vehicle is OK, it's worth the wait I guess.

Purchased my new discovery 6 weeks ago in Melbourne. It seemed to me, that if you wanted a standard vehicle, or a vehicle with a sunroof, and were not fussed about the colour, and were happy with V6 petrol or diesel (no V8's around) vehicles were absolutely available. I got mine with no dramaz, and there were plenty more coming through.

Currently working full time and still doing 1000 kms a week, most recreational, just because I am loving the driving so much! Canot speak highly enough of what I am driving.

A decent dealer will find out what is available and even source or swap one from another dealer. You have limited choices in what is available but if there is one you are happy with you could get one staight away.
We were lucky and the dealer got us what we wanted.

Australia 2008 Discovery 3 4.0 V6 Petrol SE Auto Stornoway GreyDiscovery 3

I ordered my bog standard Stornoway V6 petrol at the end of May. I was advised it was to be a July build, delivery early September. It arrived on 13 September. The dealer advised when I picked mine up that the curent orders wouldn't be filled until February.

I'm in WA, and there are only wo dealers, owned by the same group. They may be controlling supply to keep margins up.

WA is a problem for the delievry of ANY Landrover - new and used; absolutely zero Diesels on the second hand market and only a handful (one or two) V6 and v8; new cars have a long waiting list etc etc. Blame the Biggest Mining Boom is this country's history and the demand for "toys" that goes with it! RRS are almost unobtainable in Perth! And dont ask about boats - I've never seen so many marine dealers look so happy; I firmly believe Perth will be one of the richest cities in the world (based on wealth per capita) in 10 years if China and India continue to demand our resources. It really is an extraordinary place to be at present! Very Happy

That would figure my dealer swapped the allocation my D3 from a WA dealer for a RRS.

I guess Australia is a small market for LR, and America is the volume taker, So we have to put up with the longer supply time
(I visited America in July, in LA I would nearly say that 1 in every 20 cars was either a RR, RRS or LR3. I have never seen so many Range Rovers on the road.)

Blackperth interesting comment about boats in WA, this would explain why I spotted so many new boats on the back of West bound trucks at the Cobar truck stop when I was there last Xmas.
Trust me, what could go wrong?
