Incorrect Diesel Exhaust Fluid Quanlity

As the above title my 7 day old Discovery SE Tech has thrown up this warning. I have the warning triangle and the emissions light, both are amber.

The message is "Incorrect Diesel Exhaust Fluid Quality"

Any ideas? Linked to the adblue system per chance?

I guess the dealer didn't fill up the AdBlue at the PDI, or there's a fault - either way back to the dealer.

Also have a look at this thread:-

The car is at the local dealers. The adblue tank was filled at the factory so they think it is a sensor problem.

I have had my first dealings with Land Rover Assistance and they have been very good so far. They had a chap out within an hour and a half and then had it booked into the dealers and also arranged a courtesy car.

I have a Discovery Sport HSE which within 24 hours I have learnt to hate. It is not a patch on the Discovery 4. The engine is loud, the interior is not the same quality as the Discovery 4 and it just feels very low grade, I'm glad I didn't save a bit of money and purchase one. Oh and it's only giving 35mpg!

Incorrect Diesel Exhaust Fluid Quality

I have had the same problem on 2016 MY Disco 4. First time after just 60 miles. LR Reading just reset the computer. Now reoccurred after 1200 miles. Same message but with added warning that the engine will fail to start after 500 miles. Waiting for LR Assistance. Was your problem sorted and if so what was the cause? Hope not related to VW situation.

Sorry to hear of your problem, takes the shine off a new car. In the end it was traced to a faulty sensor in the adblue tank. I believe they changed the sensor, did extensive road testing and handed it me back.

So far so good.

Land Rover Customer service ended up giving us a Range Rover Sport for the time it was in being fixed.

Here's hoping you get it fixed quick. Thumbs Up

Update on Incorrect DEF Quality Message

LR Assistance turned up at 21.30. He had downloaded an engine management system software patch which has just been released to them which addresses problems with the calibration of the DEF system sensors. He then flashed this to the EMS computer (took about 20 mins) and he says this should solve the problem. Seemed pretty confident. I will update this thread when it has proved itself or if it goes wrong again. Thought you might like to know just in case you have a similar repeat. Good luck.

Interesting.....

I wonder whether these AdBlue & firmware issues are in any way related to the problems being addressed by VW currently?

Laughing It would be bad timing if Landrover recalled all their DEF models for a "software patch" at this moment in time.

I was supposed to collect my one tomorrow (Monday) but told arriving on Thursday meant it's too quick a turn around despite the salesman knowing how long it will take to arrive he still said Monday no problem, all it's to have done is PDI, mud flaps fitted and a valet or is something being done to the DEF system? Or am I just reading too much into it?
