Transmission Idle Control |
|
Hi
Can you please comment on the below:
Is it specific to particular year etc?
'Transmission Idle Control automatically selects neutral when the Discovery is stationary'
http://www.cartechnical.co.uk/news-archive...-automatic
Thanks

It does happen, on 8 speed gearbox only, but it's very subtle. If you pull up to a stop and keep your foot on the brake. Stay like that for 10 seconds.
If you start to release the brake very slowly, watch the Rev counter, you will see a very slight drop in revs just before the vehicle moves.
Technology in action!

I got 8 speed LR4, I'll see if this works sometime later, currently was just putting in neutral followed by EPB, as if driving manual, lol

There's no harm in that, at least your not dazzling the chap behind!. Also, sitting with your foot on the brake, especially when they are hot is away to cause possible brake judder.

Update: after few months ownership it actually does work. When you come to a stop keep holding brake and it feels like it switches to N in the background within 2-4 sec, though quite subtle, half of the motion going from N to D, Linda that , but looks like it's working.
