FBH intermittently working : Full Tank and Battery Charged
Since I have had my car, the FBH has worked intermittently.
By this, I mean the programme is set, I hear it start up. Sometimes it has run fully, but more often than not, I get the message that either the battery for fuel level is low hence it did not work. I know it cuts short the programme if battery charge is down, or fuel is low.
I took it to a dealer shortly after buying it to have it checked, came back all clear and working fine, no issues.
I put this down to the car being used on short journeys mainly and the battery not really being charged enough. Even with a full tank, I was still getting this message.
In the Amazon Black Friday sales, I picked up a CTEK MXS10, and duly charged the battery. I left it on for about 6 hours, and the status indicator showed it passed the 100% charge point. I assume this means it has plenty of charge. However, even now, with a charged battery and full tank of fuel, I get this warning message that it was not available due to low fuel/battery. I often hear it start up, but it never finished and it is never warm inside, and the windows are all still frozen with ice.
What else could be wrong? What else could I check? How long and how often do you guys need to plug in a charger to keep it topped up?
Was there not a recall for the battery monitor on the early D4's for this problem, I would take it back to the dealer and asked them to check if your needs/has had this done to it. If the car is seeing a low battery it will not let the FBH run.

I am not sure if I am aware of any official recall for this. Also looking on the DFT site shows nothing particular about this.
Do you know if it was a TSB? Any information or links to it?
Mine is a 2012 MY (61 reg), not sure if that is of any benefit.

As per your advice chaps, I fitted the comfort connector to the positive terminal and a ground connection near the FBH, into the wing of the car.

So from what I can tell, I have enough fuel and enough battery charge. The damn thing still wont work correctly. I hear it fire up each morning, and hope for a toasty car and a frost free screen etc.
Never happens. Still get the message "timed climate not available due to battery charge or fuel to low" or whatever it says.
I personally don't have any diagnostic tools, but am wondering it is worth a strip down and clean as per the guide from Robbie to see if that helps.
Any advice on any other simple things to check?

Mine was running very randomly, sometimes would fire but quite often wouldn't, no real patten to when it happened. I stripped it down and gave it a clean and its worked 100% since then.
