EU spec vs UK spec headlights. Halogen to Xenon unit change
I'm considering changing my MY2014 D4 XS halogen glow worms for Xenons. The headlamps are the single HIR2 bulb units with the shutters (facelift model XS). I can barely see the road at night.
Has anyone else suffered from their total lack of night time illumination? It took my totally by surprise when I drove at night for the first time. I thought something was wrong!
Having looked about I note that there are xenon units for sale on ebay etc with an "EU" spec which are considerably cheaper than UK spec.
I know these are set up for LHD vehicles but can they be realigned or is it not that simple??
I also know that the CCF will need changing.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, they're pathetic aren't they!
Expect no cooperation from Landrover in sorting out the problem even having bought new xenon headlight units direct from Landrover.

Anyone?
If I can change the UK spec lights from UK beam position to EU beam position with the lever on the units then surely it can be done the other way? So its just a simple reverse...or not??
Edit....
Ahhh its not is it? The levers flatten off a corner of the beam pattern which would dazzle when on the opposite side of the road. So although you can alter a LHD light unit you'd still be permanently missing part of the beam pattern that you might want to have for RHD.
I am looking for Euro spec Xenons (MY 10-13) and am rather interested in the ads for such that you have found. I have been less successful and would be grateful if you could pass me your findings, I only seem to find UK spec when I search.

So I have done. As I said, only UK spec found. But you said you found a number of EU spec ones. As your search capabilities obviously vastly surpass mine, I was kindly asking for you to perhaps provide me with your results.

Have you tried this search term?
"discovery 4 xenon headlights eu"
I get quite a few hits with that.

A bit late in this thread but do the MY2014 xenons fit an earlier D4 (2011 with halogen headlights in my case).

If you change the bumper and grille, yes, but IMO, you are better off going for some original style xenons, becuase with the MY14 ones you lose the additional halogen beams, meaning you get only 6400lm from them, rather than 9400lm - this vs your current 6000lm, and over time, the xenon bulbs will drop down to that level or below.
In short, there's no real performance upgrade from xenons if you opt for the MY14 variants. Of course, the styling may be more important but it's worth considering IMO. Thanks for an informative answer. It is the performance I am interested in as I have halogens today which I find really bad. The problem for me is just to find EU spec LHD xenons. It is plenty around with RHD spec. Do all the xenons have fairy lights working?
Thanks again,

I changed mine recently (MY14 facelift). Recommend that you buy the correct UK spec so as to have them right. Signature lights etc all work on plug-in but xenons need enabling. Also discovered that I was blinding people at night so had alignment checked. It was out just a touch. Perfect now and well worth doing. Halogens sold very quickly so got some of the cost back.

I purchased my D3 with a D4 conversion (wings etc) already done. The lights are the MY14 Xenons but they are the LHD EU Spec units. They don't have a lever as I believe they do on the older units. They do have 2 allen adjusters on each unit. They have a fairly flat beam and can be adjusted with some patience to very close to UK spec.
The performance increase over the halogens is huge! (Adding them to the D3 requires a resistor for the LED indicator) They also flash when first turned on which I'm told is normal.2008 XS Java Black
Geoff. & Flack Full Belts and Oil pump change
Full D4 Conversion, Wings, bumper, 2016 headlights & Rear lights.
22" Alloys (285/35) Full Autobox flush, full fluid change (Trans/diffs)
TPMS added, rear headrest screens.

John,
and did you have to change anything else?
The reason I ask is the following.
The only thing I liked from the Landmark were the Xenon lights (064CW). When I asked if it was possible to retrofit on a Graphite, I've been told that this would be a lot of work and even needed recabling?
I thought that was kind of exagerated (or he misunderstood my question). Or could that have been the answer for the adaptive Xenon (064DI)?
Anyway, I do miss my Xenons from the D3 ..
