I like the look of the Nextbase, but the thing looks enormous compared to the cheap ebay Chinese camera I have just now (by the way coming up for 6 years old and still working fine, but the battery is starting to fail so it only records for a few mins without power)
Is there an option to stick it directly to the screen on a smaller mount? Most of the size seems to be because of the suction mount assembly 2013 Discovery 4 HSE Lux | 2001 Defender 90 TD5 | 2007 Prodrive RB320

tucked up behind the rear-view mirror, you can hardly see it … but there was a post on here at some point about someone making a smaller mount for them.
and it looks like mine's NOT going to talk to my SD card. just "long" formatting it in the PC now to see if that sorts it (then reformat in dashcam )

Thanks Tiffany.
Can I ask, are you with Next Base on an official basis?
If so, why don't Next Base make the size of the memory card clear in their packaging, or try to ensure that the retailers are clear about the requirements.
When I went back to Halfords (UK), I was told that any size of memory card, up to 32G was fine to use.
Quote:Yes, I work in the Caerphilly support/warranty office and here to offer advice/support where I can.
At the moment the size (up to 32GB) is on the outside of the package and then repeated in the instructions, this of course will change based on our new firmware allowing the larger SDXC cards.
We are definitely working with retailers at the moment to ensure they're recommending good quality cards with our products. I certainly don't like hearing customers experiencing any disappointment during the life of the camera.
Halfords are correct, all literature still makes reference to up to 32GB. Only with the recent (two weeks ago) R5.4 update can the camera utilise larger capacities.
to complicate things, my dashcam is on version 6.4 but shows it as B-4.04 … so should be ok with 64GB card.

In regards to rubbish suction cups, I have mine mounted on a 'fixed kit' its an adhesive pad instead of the suction cup. I have it stuck to the black park of the screen behind the mirror, the camera gets a great view and I can't see it at all when driving..
I bought the hard wiring kit last year and it's still sat in the glove box
one day i'll get around to fitting it..
