| Would you buy a 2nd hand FBH? |

My FBH is playing up, can't get it to run using the IID tool, but then on occasions it will work for a little when cold, not normal operation
So I was thinking of getting a 2nd hand one off the bay, and then replace mine, before stripping the old one down using Robbies guide.
They are only £90ish 2nd hand and new ones are £800+  - Seeing these prices makes me think 2nd hand is the way forward
Does this make sense? Many of the ones on eBay come with 60 or 90 days warranty  Iggy/Ieuan

I know plenty of people who have with no problems. Even fitted a few for people on occasion. If it's going to fail, it will usually show that quite quickly so with a 60 day guarantee, shouldn't be a problem. Bodsys Brake Bible

Regarding a second hand FBH, do you guys know if the Rover 75 ones often seen on ebay are the same as the one used in our Land Rover?

No they are not the same. 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I am running secondhand FBH and have the reburbed old one ready to swap in. 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

That's my eventual plan barnie, put the 2nd hand one in, fix mine and then have it as a spare Iggy/Ieuan

Iggy see if DM still has the one from Tonga green car he broke recently,I have the HP fuel pump from it in mine The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;

I take it that you have tried the 'squirt of brake cleaner into the intake' trick? I'm told that it helps clear any sooty crud in the chamber. Dave

Thanks Bodsy, when I switched off today, (ignition off and key out) I could hear the fans going so perhaps controller ok?
Is the controller part of the FBH assembly?  Iggy/Ieuan

Does the IID give you a failure code? Or does it say it's tested successfully?

IID says 'Failed to operate' (Or words to that affect), I get this when I try and prime or test operation
Then out of the blue I will see a bit of smoke and it works for about 1 min or so, but the vast majority of the time it doesn't work.
It's about -2 here this morning, started the Disco and FBH failed to work again this morning
So I think I'm going to buy a 2nd hand one off the Bay, then once swapped stip the old one down as perh Robbies guide Iggy/Ieuan
