I've been offered some adaptive bi-xenon headlights. I have a base spec D3. Can these be installed to operate in a "basic" mode i.e. without the adaptive/cornering functionality?

The corner lights should come on with the indicator as well on 2005/06 models as the wiring was installed for this as standard. Not the case on 2007+ models.

The cornering lights will need to be activated to work, it can be done at the same time as sorting the xenon flicker, both a two minute job with an IID
