That's a bit different, when the car is started in cold weather, both the front and rear heated screens are switched on automatically and the lights on the switches show that they are on. Exactly as described in the manual. This can be switched off if the driver chooses to do so.
However, it looks as though the rear screen can also be heating (possibly in a lower power mode) even when it is "switched off" and the indicator light is also off. This cannot be turned of by the driver.MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Did read the manual to find out about this unexpected feature after the event LOL. So realised it was a feature rather than a fault
Will check tomorrow whether the switch lights up.

Has anybody considered the fact that the metal lines will conduct the heat from the internal air as it warms up, due to the fact that they are bonded outside of the glass? Similar thing occurs on my D3.Dave
