For those about to fit one, if I forgot to say, don't use a 3 three sim card , as the Altox will and does work on 2G and GPRS. Three only operate 3 & 4G, the Altox unit doesn't therefore register on the three network, im using a Tesco mobile prepay, which I'm reliably inform (thanks Wiggs) is O2 as a carrier, this works fine as do EE

It is possible to link the Altox unit directly into the wiring that is provided for the OEM remote kit in the rear of the car, I have traced the wiring and need to source the correct plug for this. This makes the installation a very simple plug in option. Initially I have left my Landrover remote kit in place
I've been on with Martin, he's looking to hopefully have cables in the shop shortly, test plugs are on order so watch this space
Anyone fitting to a D3, you will very soon have the option to run your interior fans from the Altox unit, similar to the D4.
Utilising the external control function of the Altox controller, the addition of a wire in module for the HVAC fans will blow warm air into the cabin, similar to the Danhag system.
The unit us currently in prototype testing , I'll update this thread with news as it progresses Altox GSM FBH controller thread

Ooh, that's interesting! I'm developing a setup for overnighting in the car, turning the FBH and blowers on before getting out of sleeping bag remotely would be very handy!
When setting up the unit, you will need to text it the APN settings for your chosen network, the instruction in the booklet can be a little confusing, so google the APN setting for the network chosen and Robert is your fathers sister

When do you think these units will be available looking to get one soon
Jack
The prototype of the controller is in a D3 , to test..
So it is close, Should it will be in production soon, just want to be 100% sure everything is fine.
I hope that within a month I'll have the first in stock

You're reading it wrong Alan, the fan control will be an add on to the Altox unit, not an upgraded controller.
It will utilises the output control that the Altox has (white wire) to trigger the add on module that will bring the fans in
Get the controller as discussed and add that later when it's available
Explanation of fan control module
Discovery 3 & RRS are special, you need a separate controller for the fans, there have been other controllers on the market, but they had same running time as the FBH mostly 30 min, so you often drained battery.
The add on module will be made do that it starts at a particular coolant temperature or lag time after FBH initiation, a cold engine can take some time to get heated up, so why waste power blowing cold air.
Fan startup temperature or lag time will be set by the user with the ALtox WBUS-5, so if you want air at 80° or the last 5 mins or run time, you can set that
When it comes to installation, it will be behind the HVAC system, (H trim will need removing) so if you install the Altox inside car, it will be easy to take the wires from ALtox to the Fan controller
So I can only recommend that if you want the system fit an ALtox now and connect it look after the engine and give you warm air the second you start up, then fit the fan module when it's ready
