happy ending?

My problem was high fuel consumption. And limp mode.

I had error codes p2290 and p0087 with limpmode. Changed the brakeswitch and the faultcodes disappeared.
But instead I got p0101 and limpmode. Sometimes without faultcode.

Found a crack in the IC hose.
Changed and all was fine. For a while.
Got limp mode and different fault codes. P0101 and again P0087 and others.
Fuel consumption instead of 15 l/100kms down to 12,5 l/100kms

Changed rear bulbs to LED.

And as through a miracle limp mode and fault codes are gone.

No no good news.

Got limp mode again. Reset and better.
Finally hauled to workshop.
Changed left EGR valve. Stuck open. Was changed 1 year ago.
And there was a hole in the throttle body and valve unit. Changed.
They also found a leaking oil sump. Changed.
Changed the brake light switch.

All fine I thought.

But during Christmas I found very low voltage in the battery. Did not change when charging.
Was changed 4 years ago! Installed the original battery. Seems to work, but bought a new battery just in case, but have not installed it yet.

All fine I thought.
But when going home from the country I got limp mode again on the motorway. P2290.
Please help! What is the most likely fault.
Live value fuel pressure around 25000.

Would it be better when I put the new battery in.

Changed the battery and have been driving for over a month without problems, but yesterday when going to the country P2290 came back.
cleared faultcode and restarted, came back three four times until i came home.
Have not started the car since then.
Worried not to come home again.

Possible faults?
1. Fuel rail pressure sensor (on left side fueil rail)
2. LPFP
3. HPFP
4. Fuel filter
5. Something electrical (brake switch and brake bulbs changed)

Advice please !!!

I've been troubled with a P0087 fault for quite sometime now. did all the steps changed LPFP (in tank) still after one day fault and limp mode again, then changed fuel pressure switch (on the LH rail) and fault still appeared but not that often. now waiting for my HPFP to arrive and see what to do.
my advise without being a super expert is:
a. check all fuel lines for leaks, this is a cheap and essential stage.
b. check small cooling radiator (behind right wheel) for leaks.
c. change fuel filter (still cheap thing to do).
d. change fuel pressure switch. very cheap through Ebay (around 50 pounds.
e. for LPFP there isa procedure analyzed on Robbie's post how to measure it. Do the measurements post them and lets see.
f. is the HPFP which is the most expensive one.

please note that all those steps are only my two cent of logic, they are based on simplicity and cost of replacement. Steps A to C can be done in one go. buy the filter and flow all lines under the car. take extra care on the return lines from injectors and this Y sensor and main return at the top of the engine.

lately i've heard from an LR dealer that when you get those faults and car is on limp mode with an F then it is the HPFP. the question is if it the the actual pump or the LP side that doesn't give enough fuel and pump cuts to avoid cavitation.

good luck and post your progress.

IME, if the LPFP is OK, then the HPFP is at fault.

In tank pump is free to check, as is the connections to the rail pressure sensor

Sometimes, watching the live data can pinpoint a faulty PRV Thumbs Up

Mike, PRV is the pressure relief valve? Isn't this part of the LPFP kit/Housing??

Live data can give a guidance, also you can dose tests and take it step by step to try and reach to a conclusion.
as far as my understanding goes live data will be really hard (at least on untrained eye) to make you understand if your filter is blocked or their is a leak somewhere on the piping.you need to get yourself dirty 8)

I have a GAP IID, but still do not know which live data to watch.
