Worktops in the disco ?

I need to transport some 3.6 meter worktops and ten miles in the disco. Has anyone done this ? I was thinking of seats down , ratchet strap around the ends and leaving the lower tailgate open ?

I've done 3m, but I wasn't happy in case there was any slippage. They are a fair weight.

Done it with posts, seemed OK but remember you will have no rear numberplate so Plod might get excited. You should also mark the end of the rear overhang in some way.....

Lower tailgate up so the worktop slants upwards that way if anyone drives into the back of you theres a good chance you wont die.

I did a 550 mile trip with 2 x 3m Ikea worktops inside. From back of boot, rear & front passenger seat flat and resting on the corner of the H frame with soft bags supporting most of the weight in a couple of places. Worked a treat.

Always

Caution on shutting rear tailgate....
Windscreens are delicate enough to break quite easily

Could this be why I got an Expo rack?

Regularly transport 4m lengths of steel Box section in mine lower tailgate up and than ratchet strap the upper one down Thumbs Up

you might be able to get it further in on its side, put a rubber floor matt over centre cubby box and push them through onto it and ratchet them against the passenger seat I've don't that with decking and steel before too.

Did four miles with a 4.2 metre field gate in the back, secured a trailer board to the gate with number plate and secured the top half of the tailgate with a ratchet strap and foam.
