Welcome Chris.
I like to run older cars too.
My Passat is now on 227k miles (still on original wheel bearings unlike my 100k Disco!)
I haven't got the cleaning bug, but do like my cars to me mechanically right.Richard

Thanks very much Mr Iguana.
There is a slight scuff to the plastic and a small panel crease on the nearside rear, and rust has just started to form, so I'll be sorting that. The wheels could also do with quite a serious refurb, including replacing missing bits of metal round a couple of edges. The previous owner is registered as a farm in Northern Scotland, and I think it's been worked hard, rather than just being kept on tarmac.
One other small issue I'd like to sort/improve is the rear panels on both sides under the boot windows, and round the corner to above the lights. There is some scratching on these areas which isn't really seen in most lights, but I notice it. perhaps the car was taken down the same narrow, overgrown lane on the farm on a daily basis, constantly putting small scratches in the lacquer. Who knows. To be honest, the whole car could do with a proper detail to sort the scratched and swirled panels (I can hear the guys who think all LR's should be mucky squirming in their seats!).

Thanks for the welcome.
That's impressive mileage. Presuming it's diesel? Any DPF and EGR issues?

Yes, Diesel. Its has a Turbo (recently), but the old one just needed the variable vanes freeing, now back in stock as a spare. No EGR issues, doesn't have DPF.
I believe in oil changing regularly, with quality oil, and using quality fuel, not supermarket stuff.Richard
