air compressor issues - please help

England 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham BlueDiscovery 3

I have orange light on dash also, sometimes comes on as soon as engine is started sometimes you can go 20 miles without light coming on. When light is off suspension works fine. I wondered if it could be a sensor but stealer said fault was coming from compressor! I fitted a brand new genuine one about 3 or 4 years ago, surely they should have a longer life than this?
