Default setting
If you are doing a little light off roading across a grassy field and occasionally you come across a small section that has been churned up by other vehicles or say is at the bottom of a hill so there is more mud (but no ruts) what TR setting would you use? Would you keep the car in grass/gravel/snow or switch to Mud&Ruts when required? These "mud" sections are no more than say two D4s in length.
And with this in mind, is there a default TR setting that most people use?
This is what i was told by the LR Experience instructor --

If only 2 car lengths long, I wouldn't bother altering the selection you're in.
As for a 'default' setting, I leave the TR off. There has to be some extreme mud ruts for me to use the TR system. The car is so good it works 'normal' off road situations out itself with correct driver input. More extreme situations will see me selecting the appropriate TR setting.

As i have said in the past you are better selecting the right setting before you get stuck..we all know how easy it is to get stuck and then how much work you have to do to get out even on little bits..lots on here might not own up to getting stuck on what looks like the simplest of things...i will lol so i always use the terrain settings if there is mud i use mud and ruts...if i am going up a steep hill full of rocks i use rock climb.ect but its up to you

Select before the trouble, use mud and ruts, and turn dsc off.
That would be my method.
