Bonnet won't open
My bonnet release has stopped working. I pulled the lever and nothing happened.
I think the cables become detached somewhere under the bonnet. I've managed to release the catch on the driver's side but can't figure out how to access the passenger side catch to release it.
I need to get the bonnet open as I have a coolant leak and need to top up my radiator.
Any help would be appreciated.

I don't have the true answer for you but you can try removing the front plastic grill by unclipping the 2 clips you can get at and see if you can wiggle the top clips lose enough to pull the front grill out all together, once that is out the way you may be able to see things better to open the bonnet,
but like i said at the start, ive not done this, but the good news is the old front grills are very cheap to buy on ebay should you bust the old one getting it off,
other than that, I will get my coat ,

What you're asking for is sensitive information which could help a thief open the bonnet without access to the interior of the car. Read this: http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic149850.html

Thanks for the responses guys. Yes, I did see other posts relating to this problem with content removed by admin after I had post this.
I'll try these two members privately to see if they can offer some advice.
Thank you for your assistance

What I would say is I didnt manage to resolve the issue but will PM you with my thoughts on the matter!
It can be done, but to me requires a special tool for the O/S

Finally managed to get my bonnet open today after much faffing about.
I 'manufactured' a tool of sorts that I could access the catch.
No thieving is even going to try opening the bonnet on one of these unless he's lost the plot.
The actual fault was that the little plastic box that the cable from the bonnet release and the one from the bonnet catches joins together had opened and one of the cables fell out. They are now 'locked' in place by the cover also having cable ties securing it closed as well.
Sod that happening again.
Thanks again for the advice, it did help.

Dogmatic, I had same issue with that small junction box coming open. Two small cable ties now keep it locked shut. I also made up a "gadget" to get the bonnet released but it was very dependant upon me knowing where to use it I can't see a thief spending the hours that I spent opening the bonnet.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Hi Guys,
I have the same problem with the bonnet and would kindly ask for some PM with your solutions. I’m fairly restricted on the tools I can use as I’m on holiday. Thanks

Appreciate your difficulties, but you only joined today with a post count of 1.
If your a member of the AA or RAC, I’d try there or a garage.
